Tens of thousands of children are alive today because Roe v. Wade was overturned
For nearly 50 years under Roe v. Wade, abortions destroyed more than 64 million unborn babies in abortions. Now, because of Dobbs, states may protect unborn babies from abortion again. One new study estimates almost 25,000 unborn babies have been saved from abortion so far as a result of the ruling. – Life News

Pro-life advocates came together in a virtual press conference on Tuesday to mark the one-year anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, a landmark ruling made by seven male judges 50 years ago that led to the loss of more than 63 million unborn children.
Marjorie Dannenfelser, the president of Susan B Anthony Pro-Life America (SBA), expressed gratitude for the efforts of her organization in promoting democracy and enabling elected representatives to pass legislation protecting the rights of children. Political strategist Kellyanne Conway and numerous female lawmakers from across the country, who played a key role in implementing pro-life measures in their respective states, also participated in the conference.
This week, I’m proud to stand with @SBAProLife to honor how far we’ve come in the pro-life movement and recognize the opportunities that lay ahead to keep strengthening the culture of life in America.

On June 24, 2022, the Supreme Court repealed the historic Roe v. Wade case, which had legalized abortion nationwide, and ruled 6-3 in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. The leak of a draft opinion prior to the ruling triggered widespread protests and numerous attacks on pro-life organizations, centers, and churches.
Justice Samuel Alito, in his opinion, asserted that both Roe and the subsequent Planned Parenthood v. Casey decision, which upheld Roe, needed to be overturned. He argued that the authority to allow, deny, or restrict the right to an abortion should reside with individual states. This landmark decision fundamentally altered the abortion landscape in the United States.
Following the ruling, nearly half of the nation’s Republican-led states enacted laws to protect life from conception up to 12 weeks. Additionally, there has been a significant increase in the number of pregnancy centers and maternity homes, outnumbering Planned Parenthood facilities by a ratio of 14 to one, according to pro-life organizations.

Leaders of pregnancy centers and individuals who have benefited from their services shared their experiences over the past year. Kathleen Wilson, executive director of the faith-based pregnancy crisis center Mary’s Shelter in Fredricksburg, Virginia, revealed that after Roe was overturned, the organization witnessed a surge in calls from women seeking counseling during pregnancy, leading them to expand their locations and resources.

Sylvia Johnson, CEO of the Houston Pregnancy Help Center in Texas, expressed hope that minority communities, particularly the African American community, would recognize the racism associated with the abortion industry. Johnson, who has served in the shadow of the largest Planned Parenthood facility in the United States, located in a minority community, recounted an incident where three white women obstructed access to the pregnancy center during the celebration of the Supreme Court’s decision.

The National Right to Life Center estimates that by the end of 2021, nearly 40% of women seeking abortions were African American, making abortion the leading cause of death in the community.
Dannenfelser invoked the words of Alice Paul, the original author of the Equal Rights Amendment, stating that abortion represents “the ultimate exploitation of women.” She expressed the hope for a new culture of life, where positive choices replace cycles that harm women.
“We are all made in [God's] image and we all have…human dignity…. So the “womb to tomb” pro-life means, how do we promote human flourishing for all of them?”

Conway, who served as senior counselor to former President Donald Trump, urged presidential and congressional candidates to take a clear stance on abortion in the future. Recognizing the complexity of the issue, Conway emphasized its intersection with gender, law, politics, government, science, medicine, religion, and morality.
Conway and the pro-life organization also called on Republican candidates seeking nomination to support a federal ban on abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy.
