Trump says he’s ‘not happy’ about his phone call with Putin

As President Donald Trump took a victory lap given the success of the passing of his “big, beautiful bill” in Congress, he was asked by reporters about a recent phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to the Daily Mail, the president reportedly said he is “not happy” with the outcome of the call as it relates to a possible peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, noting that Putin wasn’t very helpful.

The president made the statement during a stop at Joint Base Andrews ahead of his Fourth of July trip to Des Moines, Iowa.

In short, Trump revealed that no progress had been made in an attempt to get the two countries to stop fighting.

    What did he say?

Trump was transparent with reporters when he was asked about his call with Putin, clearly indicating that the Russian president didn’t seem to want to budge on the issue, much to Trump’s disappointment.

“We had a call. It was a pretty long call. We talked about a lot of things including Iran and we also talked about, as you know, the war with Ukraine,” Trump said. “And I’m not happy about that,” he said.

When he was asked bluntly whether or not any progress was made a peace deal, Trump delivered the unfiltered truth.

“No, I didn’t make any progress with him today at all,” the president said.

    The Daily Caller noted:

Trump also pushed back when a journalist asked why the U.S. paused weapons shipments to Ukraine.

“We haven’t,” Trump insisted. “We’re giving weapons.”

Trump reminded reporters that, “Biden emptied out our whole country giving them weapons and we have to make sure that we have enough for ourselves.”

    Intense exchange

Just a week ago when reports broke that the White House halted some of the Ukraine weapons shipments, Trump entered a heated exchange with Ukrainian BBC journalist whose husband was fighting in the war.

“Wow. That’s rough stuff, right? That’s tough,” the president told her. “Let me just tell you, they do want to have the anti-missile missiles, as they call them, the Patriots. And we’re going to see if we can make some available.”

Trump has vowed to help bring an end to the war between Ukraine and Russia.

Only time will tell if he’s ultimately be able to do so.
